SCOPE AND UPDATES

This User Privacy Notice applies to your use of Afrotise regardless of how you access or use the Service, e.g. via mobile devices and apps.

PERSONAL DATA

We collect and process your personal data when you use Afrotise, create an account, provide us with information via a web form, add or update information in your Afrotise account or otherwise interact with us.

PURPOSE FOR DATA PROCESSING

We process your personal data for various purposes and based on several different legal bases that allow this processing. We process your personal data to provide and improve our Services, to provide you with a personalised user experience on Afrotise, to contact you about your account and our Services, to provide customer service, to provide you with personalised advertising and marketing communications, and to detect, prevent, mitigate and investigate fraudulent or illegal activity. We also share your information with third parties, including service providers acting on our behalf, for these purposes.

STORAGE OF DATA 

Your personal data will be stored by us and our service providers in accordance with applicable data protection laws to the extent necessary for the processing purposes set out in this Privacy Notice. Subsequently, we will delete your personal data in accordance with our data retention and deletion policy or take steps to properly render the data anonymous, unless we are legally obliged to keep your personal data longer (e.g. for legal compliance, tax, accounting or auditing purposes). In Europe, the retention periods are generally between 6 and 10 years (e.g. for contracts, notifications and business letters). As far as legally permissible or required, we restrict the processing of your data instead of deleting it (e.g. by restricting access to it). This applies in particular to cases where we may still need the data for the execution of the contract or for the assertion of or defence against legal claims, or where such retention is otherwise required or permitted by law. In these cases, the duration of the restriction of processing depends on the respective statutory limitation or retention periods. The data will be deleted after the relevant limitation or retention periods have expired.

SECURITY

We protect your personal data through technical and organisational security measures to minimise risks associated with data loss, misuse, unauthorised access and unauthorised disclosure and alteration. To this end we use firewalls and data encryption. Our gateway system is PCI DSS Level 1 which is the highest level of protection and Afrotise is compliant with the Revised Payment Services Directive which protects online shoppers.

COOKIES

We use cookies, pixels, and other technologies (collectively, "cookies") to recognise your browser or device, learn more about your interests, and provide you with essential features and services and for additional purposes, including: Recognising you when you sign-in to use our services. This allows us to provide you with product recommendations, display personalised content, recognise you as an Afrotise Rewards member, enable you to use 1-Click purchasing, and provide other customised features and services. Keeping track of your specified preferences. This allows us to honour your likes and dislikes, such as whether or not you would like to see interest-based ads. Keeping track of items stored in your shopping basket. Conducting research and diagnostics to improve our content, products, and services. Preventing fraudulent activity. Improving security. Delivering content, including ads, relevant to your interests on Afrotise. This allows us to measure and analyse the performance of our services. Afrotise cookies allow you to take advantage of some essential features. For example, if you block or otherwise reject our cookies, you may not be able to add items to your Shopping Basket, proceed to Checkout, or use Afrotise products and services that require you to sign in. Approved third parties may also set cookies when you interact with Afrotise. Third parties include search engines, providers of measurement and analytics services, social media networks, and advertising companies. Third parties use cookies in the process of delivering content, including ads relevant to your interests, to measure the effectiveness of their ads, and to perform services on behalf of Afrotise.
